Our Fourth Anniversary!

November 14, 2015

Dear Yes, You Can Dance! Community,

It’s that time of the year that I pause and reflect on our program. It was in November, just four years ago, that our organization began sharing the joys of dance. Our inaugural event was a Senior Social at the Upper St Clair Recreation Center. In subsequent years, we have marked our anniversary with a dance party. This year, I encourage our entire Yes, You Can Dance! community – students, guests, volunteers, staff, board members, and families – to mark the anniversary in your own special way. Get together with some of the new friends you have made. Recruit others to join in the fun. Consider supporting our work with a donation honoring our 4th anniversary.

In the past few weeks, we have been busy with two special events. On October 24, we provided the dance fun at a senior event at the Lawrenceville Boys & Girls Club. This was our first time working with the City of Pittsburgh’s Parks and Recreation Department. Over 70 seniors from all over Pittsburgh came to dance with us. More recently, our South Hills Special Needs Performance Team performed for the second year at Swing Pittsburgh. They truly rocked the house and received a standing ovation. Thanks to Shannon Morrissey, our performers were treated to stage make up by Mina Rose.

Of course, none of these events would happen without all of the members of our community: students, guests, volunteers, staff, board, clients, and families. Special thanks to Chris Roth for working with me from the beginning to develop, launch and nurture our organization. Also, thanks to Joanna Reed for all her work in making sure everyone in our growing organization knows where they have to be and when they have to be there. Finally, thanks to our newly expanded Board of Directors. Your work in supporting our vision is highly appreciated.

So, Happy Anniversary to Yes, You Can Dance!

With much gratitude,

Becky Stern, Founder & President
